NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. – Penn State Altoona sophomore Hannah Kimmick (Greensburg, PA/Hempfield) was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's Women's Swimmer of the Week on Monday for her performance in the water last week.
In dual meets against non-conference opponents Wells College and Gallaudet University, Kimmick racked up six individual first place finishes for the Lady Lions.
On Tuesday afternoon at Wells, Kimmick won first place in the 200 Yard Freestyle by clocking in at 2:20.42, and she later took first in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:28.63.
The sophomore followed that up by recording a season-high four individual first places on Friday night at Gallaudet. Kimmick won back-to-back women's events to start her evening, taking first in the 1000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 12:31.15 and winning the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 2:21.71. Later, she finished first in the 100 Yard Freestyle by clocking in at 1:07.58, and she picked up her fourth victory of the night in the 200 Yard IM, in which she finished with a time of 2:45.84.
This is Kimmick's first AMCC weekly award this season, and it is the second of her collegiate swimming career.
Penn State Altoona women's swimming finishes its regular season schedule this Saturday, January 26, when the team will travel to Erie to face AMCC opponent Penn State Behrend at 1:00 p.m.
