Men's Wrestling Faces Two in Penn State Behrend Meets
ERIE, Pa. - The Penn State Altoona men's wrestling team went on the road Saturday morning to compete against Penn State Behrend and Division I Mercyhurst University at Junker Center.
Meet One: Mercyhurst 59, Penn State Altoona 0
Tammar Reza (Montgomery, NJ/Montgomery), Gonzalo Santana Hernandez (Short Hills, NJ/Millburn), and Andrew Weaver (Tyrone, PA / Tyrone) all competed for the Lions against Division I team Mercyhurst.
In the 125 bout, Reza lost by fall in 0:27. Penn State Altoona would then forfeit the next four bouts. Hernandez dropped the 165 match 15-0 in 2:46. The Lions lost in the 174 class as Weaver lost by fall in 6:39.
The Lions forfeited the following three matches as Mercyhurst won 59-0.
Meet Two: Penn State Behrend 54, Penn State Altoona 6
Reza, Hernandez, and Weaver returned to the mats in Penn State Altoona's second meet of the day.
Reza lost by fall in 1:27 in the 125 bout. Hernandez also lost by fall in the 165 match in 0:56.
Weaver had Penn State Altoona's lone win of the day in the 174 bout, when he defeated Penn State Behrend's Anthony Salvini by fall in 4:01.
Penn State Altoona men's wrestling travels again for its next competition, as the Lions will travel to Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania to compete in the Wilkes Open next Friday, December 19 starting at 9:30 a.m.
