HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The Penn State Altoona baseball team finished their three-game series with Juniata College Thursday afternoon, splitting with the Eagles at Langdon Goodale Field.

Penn State Altoona (17-17, 7-8 AMCC) held on to win the first game of the doubleheader 7-5. Juniata dominated the Lions in the second game of the doubleheader, 12-2.

Game One: Penn State Altoona 7, Juniata 5

Jonathan Rauch (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin) finished a perfect 3-for-3, having a double and two RBI. Brian Chelli (West Hartford, CT/Hall) also had three hits, going 3-for-4, with two runs scored and two RBI.

Landon Postreich (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone) pitched the last 2/3 inning in relief for the Lions, getting his first collegiate save.

The first inning would be a tight affair with both teams scoring runs. After hitting a single, Chelli ran home following an infield fly by Zach Ingold (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin). Juniata responded in the bottom of the first inning following a run from Zach Johnston.

The top of the second inning saw the Lions score four runs to take a four-run lead. With the bases loaded, Devin Colón (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) scored after a wild pitch. A single from Chelli led to Dasso and Jarek Szaflarski (Greencastle, PA/Greencastle-Antrim) scoring to make it 4-1. Owen Dombrosky (Hollidaysburg, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) made the sacrifice fly to allow Chelli to score the Lions' fourth run of the inning. The Eagles scored off a home run in the bottom of the second to make it 5-2.

After a scoreless third inning, Dasso scored off a Rauch single to increase the Lions' lead to four runs.

In the top of the sixth inning, a Rauch double led to Dasso scoring the Lions' seventh run of the game.

The bottom of the seventh inning was a nervy affair, as Juniata scored three runs to close the gap to just two runs. However, the Lions held on to get the two-run victory.

Game Two: Juniata 12, Penn State Altoona 2

The Lions struggled to get into the second game, finding themselves down early. Penn State Altoona could not get a lot going offensively in the game, losing to Juniata by 10 runs.

Benjamin Ettien (Media, PA/Penncrest) went 1-for-3 for the Lions, having a double, a stolen base, an RBI, and a run scored. Michael Labisi (Mountainside, NJ/Governor Livingston) also went 1-for-3 at bat and had an RBI.

On the mound, Ingold started the second game and took the loss. During his time on the mound, he only gave up six hits and struck out one batter. Chris Mull (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville) and Ryan Paolella (Levittown, PA/Pennsbury) pitched in relief for the Lions. Mull only conceded four hits and struck out one batter. Paolella conceded no hits and struck out one batter.

After scoring two runs in the top of the first inning, Juniata exploded in the top of the third inning. The Eagles scored nine runs to put themselves 11-0 up.

The Eagles added another run in the top of the fifth inning to increase their lead to 12 runs.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Lions put some runs on the board. Ettien doubled to left center, allowing Kaleb Jockel (Pittsburgh, PA/Shaler) to score. Ettien stole third before running home off a sacrifice play by Labisi.

The seventh inning would be a scoreless one as the Lions lost by 10 runs.
