Men's Golf Starts Lejeune Tournament Tied for 11th

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. - The Penn State Altoona men's golf team was back on the course Friday afternoon, as they began competing in the 53rd Annual Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate Golf Championship at Paradise Point Golf Course.  

At the conclusion of day one of the three-day tournament, Penn State Altoona tied for 11th place, shooting 299 as team. Oglethorpe University finished the day in first place after shooting 288 on the par 72 course. Roanoke College, Drew University, and McDaniel College tied for second place with a score of 289.  

Nicky Riscica (Newtown, PA/Council Rock North) was the top finisher for the Lions on day one, shooting on par and tying for 16th out of 118 individuals with his score of 72.  

Peter Nusbaum (Pittsboro, NC/Thales Academy) was 2-over by the conclusion of round one, tying for 34th place. Nicholas Helsley (Altoona, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) tied for 60th after finishing the round 4-over-par with a score of 76. Joey Sabol (State College, PA/State College) shot 77, 5-over-par, to tie for 73rdDaniel Batrus (Altoona, PA/Altoona) finished day one tied for 80th place after carding a score of 78, 6-over-par. 

Penn State Altoona men's golf will continue competing in the 53rd Annual Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate Golf Championship tomorrow, Saturday, April 11, with day two of the tournament scheduled to tee off at 8 a.m.
