Men's Golf Opens Fred Kravetz Invitational in Fifth

PITTSFORD, N.Y. - After day one of the Fred B. Kravetz Invitational, hosted by the University of Rochester at the Locust Hill Country Club, the Penn State Altoona men's golf team found itself in fifth place out of six teams.  

The Lions shot 302 on the par 72 course, finishing the round in fifth place.  

John Carroll University held down top spot on the leaderboard with 286. Swarthmore and hosts Rochester finished in a tie for second with 292.  

Andrew Bruce (Moon Township, PA/Moon) was one of seven golfers to finish the day under par, firing a 1-under 71 to tie for fourth place out of 35 individuals.  

Peter Nusbaum (Pittsboro, NC/Thales Academy) and Nicky Riscica (Newtown, PA/Council Rock North) hit matching scores of 75, three over par, to tie for 15th place.  

Daniel Batrus (Altoona, PA/Altoona) carded a score of 81 to finish round one in 34th place. Joey Sabol (State College, PA/State College) shot 82 on day one to place 35th 

Jack Ankeny (Davidsville, PA/Conemaugh Township) competed for the Lions as an individual, and he scored a 73, one over par, to tie for eighth individually.  

The Penn State Altoona men's golf team resumes play at the Fred Kravetz Invitational tomorrow, Saturday, April 17. Tee-off for round two of the tournament is 11:00 a.m., with Saturday's round happening at Oak Hill Country Club.
