Lions Place Fourth at Fred Kravetz Invitational

PITTSFORD, N.Y. - The Penn State Altoona men's golf team competed in the second and final day of the Fred Kravetz Invitational, hosted by the University of Rochester at Oak Hill Country Club on Saturday afternoon. 

On the par 70 course, Penn State Altoona shot 298 as a team in Saturday's round to finish with a two-day score of 600 that put the Lions in fourth place out of six teams. With the result, Penn State Altoona finished ahead of McDaniel College, who is ranked 37th in Division III men's golf.  

John Carroll University won the tournament courtesy of their fifth score on day two, as John Carroll compiled a two-day score of 569. Host University of Rochester was the runner-up with 569 and Swarthmore College came in third place with 586.  

Andrew Bruce (Moon Township, PA/Moon) was Penn State Altoona's top individual finisher in the tournament. Bruce shot 3-over-par in Saturday's round, scoring a 73 to finish with a two-day score of 144.  

Peter Nusbaum (Pittsboro, NC/Thales Academy) had the Lions' low round on Saturday and tied for 12th place individually with a two-day score of 146, including his 71 in Saturday's action.  

Nicky Riscica (Newtown, PA/Council Rock North) shot 80 in round two, totaling 155 strokes in the tournament to tie for 26th place. Daniel Batrus (Altoona, PA/Altoona) tied for 30th place after tallying 157 strokes, including 76 on Saturday. Joey Sabol (State College, PA/State College) had 160 strokes, 78 of them in round two to tie for 34th place.  

The Lions' individual competitor, Jack Ankeny (Davidsville, PA/Conemaugh Township), tied for 22nd place individually with a two-round score of 153 after shooting 80 in Monday's action.  

The Penn State Altoona men's golf team will compete in their final tournament of the season on Monday, April 20, when they host the Penn State Altoona Spring Invitational at Sinking Valley Country Club.
