Men's Soccer Season Ends in Tough Loss to Redhawks

ALTOONA, Pa. - The Penn State Altoona men's soccer team played in their last game of the season Tuesday evening, facing off against AMCC foe La Roche at Spring Run Stadium.

La Roche (8-4-4, 5-1-2 AMCC) put on the offensive pressure in the first half, firing off 14 shots to Penn State Altoona's (3-12, 2-6 AMCC) 3. Goalkeeper Tyler Tardiff (Chadds Ford, PA/Garnet Valley) was called upon to make many saves. Tardiff's best save of the half was in the 22nd minute as he denied Niko Manos' header.

Despite facing a lot of offense from the Redhawks, the Lions were able to hold off La Roche for much of the second half. The only breakthrough for the Redhawks came from a penalty that Jack Sadler converted to give La Roche a 1-0 lead.

La Roche would come close in the 71st and 77th minutes to scoring but were stopped by Tardiff and the Penn State Altoona defense. In the final part of the game, the Lions looked for an equalizer, but to no avail as the Redhawks returned to Pittsburgh with a 1-0 victory.

However, the game was not without its bright spots. Tardiff had an impressive display between the sticks, making 13 saves off 14 shots on goal to have a 92.85% save percentage. Tardiff's 13 saves ties him for the fifth most saves in a game in Penn State Altoona men's soccer history.
