ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona men's volleyball program has announced its 2022 season schedule.

After a COVID-shortened 2021 spring schedule that saw the Lions limited to just nine total matches, Penn State Altoona men's volleyball returns with a full slate of competition in 2022, the team's 10th season as an NCAA Division III varsity program. The Lions are scheduled to compete in 27 matches this upcoming season, including 16 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matches and 12 matches at home in the Adler Arena.

Penn State Altoona opens its 2022 schedule on Friday, January 21, when the Lions will host Baldwin Wallace University at 8:00 p.m. and also welcome Stevenson University and Southern Virginia University for a neutral site match at 5:30 p.m. The Lions' opening weekend continues at home on Saturday, January 22, when they will face Southern Virginia at 11:00 a.m. and Messiah University at 3:00 p.m., while SVU and Messiah will face off at 1:00 p.m.

The Lions round out January with road matches at Elizabethtown College (Thursday, January 27 at 7:00 p.m.) and King's College (Sunday, January 30 at 12:30 p.m., to be played at Mount Aloysius College).

Penn State Altoona starts February with road matches at Wilkes University (Thursday, February 3 at 7:00 p.m.) and Juniata College (Saturday, February 5 at 4:00 p.m.) before returning home to take on Wittenberg University (Sunday, February 6 at 1:00 p.m.). The Lions' first AMCC match of the season is at home on Wednesday, February 16, when they host Saint Vincent College at 7:00 p.m. The team travels for an AMCC tri-match hosted at Geneva College on Saturday, February 19, when the Lions will take on Geneva at 1:00 p.m. and Medaille College at 4:30 p.m.

The men's volleyball team finishes February with a trio of home matches, taking on Lancaster Bible College (Friday, February 25 at 7:00 p.m.) before hosting a tri-match with AMCC opponents Thiel College and Hilbert College on Saturday, February 26, with that day's first match starting at 1:00 p.m.

Penn State Altoona opens March with an AMCC match at first-year men's volleyball program Mount Aloysius on Wednesday, March 2 at 7:00 p.m., then travels to Erie for an AMCC tri-match on Saturday, March 5 against Penn State Behrend (12:00 p.m.) and Hiram College (3:00 p.m.). The Lions' next match is on the road at AMCC foe Saint Vincent (Wednesday, March 16 at 7:00 p.m.), then the team travels to Thiel College for an AMCC tri-match with Thiel (1:00 p.m.) and Medaille (3:00 p.m.). Penn State Altoona follows that up with another conference tri-match, this one hosted by Hilbert College on Saturday, March 26, with the Lions facing Hiram (2:00 p.m.) and Hilbert (4:00 p.m.) that day. Men's volleyball finishes March with a road match at Lancaster Bible (Tuesday, March 29 at 7:00 p.m.) and a home match against conference foe Mount Aloysius (Wednesday, March 30 at 7:00 p.m.).

The Lions round out the regular season by hosting Marymount University on Friday, April 1 at 7:00 p.m. – as well as a neutral site match between Saint Vincent and Marymount earlier that evening at 5:00 p.m. – before hosting an AMCC tri-match with Geneva and Penn State Behrend on Saturday, April 2 starting at 1:00 p.m.
