Penn State Altoona jumped out to an early 14-3 lead after kills from Lukas Weathersbee (Altoona, PA/Altoona) and Fries as well as service aces from Fries. Mount Aloysius looked to shift the momentum, getting five points to reduce the Lions' lead to 10 points. The Lions took advantage of a service error while generating offense through McKenna, Weathersbee, and Fries to close out the first set 25-10.
Like the first set, the Lions jumped out to an early lead in second set, capitalizing on attack errors by the Mounties and getting kills from Weathersbee and Fries. The run would also include service aces from Fries and Ethan Wooldridge (Sinking Spring, PA/Wilson). The Lions found their lead cut to three points after committing five errors. That would be as close as the Lions let the Mounties get, with Penn State Altoona going on a 6-1 run to end the second set. A service ace from Jimenez was the cherry on top as the Lions won the set 25-17.
Kills from Fries and McKenna, service aces by Wooldridge, and errors by Mount Aloysius resulted in Penn State Altoona storming to a 12-2 lead in the third set. The Mounties cut that early lead to six points, before the Lions scored five unanswered points to put the score at 19-8. Following a timeout by the Mounties, both sides would exchange points with the score reaching 24-11. McKenna set up Fries for the set point, as the Lions won the final set 25-11 and the match 3-0.
