Men's Cross Country Earns Third at AMCC Championship

ERIE, Pa. - The Penn State Altoona men's cross country team nabbed third place out of four scoring teams in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championship on Saturday morning.

The Lions posted a team score of 77 points to finish ahead of fourth place La Roche, which scored 120 points. 

Host school Penn State Behrend won with a score of 25 points, and Alfred State finished in second place with a score of 38. 

Brandon Lyle (Altoona, PA/Altoona) led the way for the Lions, clocking in at 30:39.9 in the 8K to finish 14th place individually.  

Five other Lions placed within the top 30 individually. Zach Halama (Northumberland, PA/Martin Luther King) finished in 16th after recording a time of 31:22.1, Jordan Long (Airville, PA/Kennard-Dale) finished in 21st with a time of 31:55.8, Ethan Schield (Roaring Brook, PA/North Pocono) finished 26th with a time of 33:11.8, Jack Higgins (Portland, OR/Riverdale) finished 27th with a time of 33:14.4, and Evan Wagenmann (Malvern, PA/Great Valley) finished in 28th with a time of 33:36.0. 

Aiden Pimentel (Stony Point, NY/North Rockland) clocked a time of 34:26.6 to finish in 31st place. Blaise Ventura (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) was not too far behind, clocking a time of 37:36.0 to finish in 35th place. 

The Penn State Altoona men's cross country team will return to action at the Mid-Atlantic Region Championships on November 15.
