Lions Take Fourth at St. Vincent Invitational
LATROBE, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona women's golf team hit the road for the first time in its 2025-26 season on Monday, when the Lions placed fourth out of six scoring teams in the Saint Vincent College Invitational at Latrobe Country Club.
The Lions combined to shoot 416, representing their lowest score in a round since the team was reinstated as a varsity sport at Penn State Altoona last year.
Westminster College won the tournament with a team score of 359, host St. Vincent was the runner-up with 378, and Grove City College placed third with 393. Penn State Altoona ranked ahead of Thiel College (432) and Waynesburg University (435) on the team leaderboard, while Geneva College did not score as a team.
Gabby Catalogna (Venetia, PA/Peters Township) had the Lions' low round, shooting 97 on the par 72 course to tie for 14th place individually out of 42 golfers. Clarissa Long (Altoona, PA/Altoona) carded 103 for 18th place.
Alexis Peacock (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) produced a score of 104 to tie for 19th place individually, and Alyssa Franks (Altoona, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) tied for 30th place with 112.
Next up, Penn State Altoona women's golf will compete in Allegheny College's annual tournament, the Guy and Jeanne Kuhn Invitational, on Sunday, September 21 and Monday, September 22 at The Country Club of Meadville. Sunday's round is slated to begin at 9 a.m.
