Women’s Golf Tees Off Inaugural CWGC Championships

OXFORD, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona women's golf team opened competition in the first-ever Colonial Women's Golf Conference Championships on Monday, as the Lions played in round one of the two-day league tournament at Wyncote Golf Club.

Babson College stood atop the team leaderboard after day one with a score of 306. Christopher Newport University was in second place with 326, and Salisbury University held third place with 358.

Penn State Altoona did not place as a team, as a pair of Lion golfers competed as individuals.

Gabby Catalogna (Venetia, PA/Peters Township) shot 107 for Penn State Altoona's low score of the day on the par 72 course, finishing the round in 24th place out of 32 scoring individuals. Alyssa Franks (Altoona, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) was in 30th place after carding 121.

The second and final day of the CWGC Championships is tomorrow, Tuesday, October 27, with the Lions' tee times scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
