Women's Golf Begins Competing in Camp Lejeune Tourney

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. - The Penn State Altoona women's golf team started competing in their third tournament of the spring season on Friday morning, when the Lions began competing in the 53rd Annual Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate Golf Championship at Paradise Point Golf Course.  

Penn State Altoona was represented by three golfers who competed as individuals in the tournament.  

Oglethorpe University finished the day in first place after shooting 304 on the par 71 course, while Virginia Wesleyan University finished runners up on the day with a score of 311.  

Alexis Peacock (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) was the top finisher for Penn State Altoona after shooting 92, 21-over-par, to end the day in 46th place individually.  

Clarissa Long (Altoona, PA/Altoona) finished in 56th place with 108 and Alyssa Franks (Altoona, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) finished in 57th place with 109.  

Penn State Altoona women's golf will continue competing in the 53rd Annual Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate Golf Championship tomorrow, Saturday, April 11, with day two of the tournament scheduled to tee off at 8 a.m. and the Lions' tee times set to start at 10 a.m.
