Women's Soccer Edged 1-0 Against Eagles

ALTOONA, Pa. - The Penn State Altoona women's soccer team faced the Juniata Eagles at Spring Run Stadium today, losing 1-0. 

The game would start out with both teams probing the other's defense. There would be eight shots, five on goal, for both teams throughout the half. Kira Trexler (Martinsburg, PA/Central) would have the best opportunity of the half in the 27th minute, forcing a goal-line clearance from the Juniata defense. The teams would go into the half tied 0-0. 

Juniata would threaten early in the second half, getting two shots off in the first five minutes, one of them forcing a save from junior goalkeeper Mya Torres (Culpeper, VA/Culpeper County).  

The Eagles would eventually break through in the 62nd minute, punching the ball in the back of the net off a corner. After the goal, the Lions would try to get forward but would be stopped by the Eagles' midfield and backline. Penn State Altoona would get four shots off, forcing two saves from goalkeeper Emma Stiller. Trexler would again have the Lions' best chance of the half, sending a shot just across the face of the goal in the 88th minute. 

In net, Torres would make five saves in 90 minutes. Offensively, Trexler would have two shots on goal, while Ivory MoDavis (Bethlehem, PA/Southern Lehigh) and Kira Knox (Clearfield, PA/Clearfield) would each have one shot on goal.
