Lions Nab 6-1 Win in Home Opener

ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona women's tennis team hosted its first home match of the 2025-26 season on Sunday afternoon, when they defeated non-conference opponent Saint Vincent College 6-1 at the Adler Tennis Courts.

The Lions (3-0) took the day's first point by winning two out of three in doubles play, then proceeded to win five of six in singles to hand St. Vincent (1-1) a loss.

Penn State Altoona won in both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. The No. 2 team of Abigail Morgan (Orrville, OH/Orrville)/Sienna Fell (Canonsburg, PA/Canon-McMillan) prevailed 6-0, while Lexi Colaianni (Pittsburgh, PA/Kiski Area)/Daniel Fulton (Milford, DE/Milford) won 6-1 at the No. 3 slot.

In singles, Rachel Stricek (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone) battled for a 6-2, 5-7, 10-1 victory in the No. 2 match, and Colaianni also won in a tiebreak at the No. 3 spot, 6-2, 3-6, 10-0. Fell posted a 6-0, 6-1 victory in the No. 4 match, and Morgan came out on top 6-1, 7-6 (7-2) in the No. 5 singles spot. Fulton rounded out the lineup with a 6-2, 7-5 victory at No. 6.

Next up, Penn State Altoona hosts Division II non-conference opponent Clarion University on Friday, September 12 at 4 p.m. at the Adler Courts.
