Women's Tennis Tops Clarion 6-1
ALTOONA, Pa. - The Penn State Altoona women's tennis team hosted Clarion University today, beating the Golden Eagles 6-1 at the Adler Tennis Courts.
The Lions (4-0) took the day's first point by winning two out of three in doubles play, then proceeded to win five of six in singles to hand Clarion University (1-2) a loss.
Penn State Altoona won in both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. The No. 2 team of Abigail Morgan (Orrville, OH/Orrville)/Sienna Fell (Canonsburg, PA/Canon-McMillan) prevailed 7-5, while Lexi Colaianni (Pittsburgh, PA/Kiski Area)/Daniel Fulton (Milford, DE/Milford) won via forfeit as the Golden Eagles only had 5 players.
In singles, Caitlin Blessel (Saint Marys, PA/Saint Marys) posted 6-2, 6-1 scores in the No. 2 match, and Colaianni also won in a tiebreak at the No. 3 spot, 6-4, 4-6, 10-2. Fell posted 6-1, 6-3 victories in the No. 4 match, and Morgan came out on top 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 5 singles spot. Fulton rounded out the lineup with a victory via forfeit.
For their next match, Penn State Altoona will host Penn State Behrend on Sunday, September 14, at 12:30 p.m. at the Adler Tennis Courts.
