Women's Tennis Beats Lycoming 6-1
ALTOONA, Pa. - The Penn State Altoona women's tennis team travelled to Williamsport today to face Lycoming, beating the Warriors 6-1.
The Lions (5-1) took the day's first point by winning two out of three in doubles play, then proceeded to win five of six in singles to hand Lycoming (1-2) a loss.
Penn State Altoona won in both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. The No. 2 team of Lexi Colaianni (Pittsburgh, PA/Kiski Area)/Daniel Fulton (Milford, DE/Milford) prevailed 6-0, while Mara Del Valle (Colombia / Walt Whitman)/Ashylin Rodriguez (Lancaster, PA / Hempfield) won via forfeit.
In singles, Colaianni won at the No. 2 spot, 6-1, 6-0. Fulton posted 6-3, 6-4 victories in the No. 3 match, and Valle came out on top 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 4 singles spot. Alejandra Segura (San Juan, PR / Colegio Mater Salvatoris) secured victory in the No. 5 match with scores of 6-4, 6-4. Rodriguez rounded out the lineup with a victory via forfeit.
For their next match, Penn State Altoona will host Mount Aloysius on Sunday, September 21, at 1:00 p.m. at the Adler Tennis Courts.
