Women's Tennis Wins 6-1 Against Redhawks
ALTOONA, Pa. - The Penn State Altoona women's tennis team played indoors at the Gorilla House Gym, where they beat the Redhawks 6-1.
The Lions (7-1) took the day's first point by winning three out of three in doubles play, then proceeded to win five of six in singles to hand La Roche University (0-5) a loss.
Penn State Altoona would go three-for-three in doubles. No. 1 doubles pair Rachel Stricek (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone)/Caitlin Blessel (Saint Marys, PA/Saint Marys) won 6-3. Abigail Morgan (Orrville, OH/Orrville)/Sienna Fell (Canonsburg, PA / Canon-McMillan) won 6-0 in No. 2 doubles. Lexi Colaianni (Pittsburgh, PA / Kiski Area)/Daniel Fulton (Milford, DE / Milford) won 6-0 in No. 3 doubles.
For singles, Stricek won 6-4,6-0 in the No. 1 spot. Colaianni would pull out 6-1, 6-0 wins in the No. 3 spot. Fell would prevail 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 4 spot. In the No. 5 spot, Morgan would win 6-0, 6-2, while Fulton won 6-0, 6-0.
For their next match, Penn State Altoona will host Geneva on Saturday, September 27, at 12:00 p.m. at the Adler Tennis Courts.
