Women's Tennis Sets Program Record with Win

HARRISBURG, Pa. - The Penn State Altoona women's tennis team traveled to face Penn State Harrisburg in their penultimate game of the fall season. Penn State Altoona would leave Pennsylvania's capital with a 7-0 win.  

The win would be the team's 12th of the season, setting the program's single season wins record. The previous record was 11 and had stood since 2000.  

Penn State Altoona (12-1, 4-1 AMCC) would dominate Penn State Harrisburg (0-1), with everyone getting wins in doubles and singles. In No. 1 doubles Caitlin Blessel (Saint Marys, PA/Saint Marys)/Rachel Stricek (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone) won 6-0. Abgail Morgan (Orrville, OH/Orrville)/Sienna Fell (Canonsburg, PA / Canon-McMillan) would get a 6-2 victory in No. 2 doubles. In No. 3 doubles, Lexi Colaianni (Pittsburgh, PA/Kiski Area)/Daniel Fulton (Milford, DE/Milford) would beat their opponents 6-0.  

Blessel would win her second set 6-0 and tiebreaker set 6-2 in No. 1 singles. In No. 2 singles, Stricek would get 6-2, 6-2 wins against her opponent. In No. 3 singles, Colaianni would prevail 7-6 (8-6), 6-1. Fell beat her opponent 6-0, 6-1 in No. 4 singles. In No. 5 singles, Morgan would get the victory, besting her opponent 6-1, 6-4. In No. 6 singles, Fulton won 6-3, 6-0.  

The Penn State Altoona women's tennis team returns home to the Adler Tennis Courts next Tuesday, October 14, where they will face Juniata. The match is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
