Women's Tennis Sets Records in Season Finale
WESTMINSTER, Md. - The Penn State Altoona women's tennis team closed out the 2025-26 season traveling to face non-conference opponent McDaniel College at the Warfield Tennis Courts, defeating the Green Terror 4-3.
Penn State Altoona (17-4) fell behind early in the match, losing two out of three doubles. The Lions mounted a comeback, winning four of the six singles matches to get the one-point match victory against McDaniel (1-6).
In the victory, two team records were set. Lexi Colaianni (Pittsburgh, PA/Kiski Area) and Abigail Morgan (Orrville, OH/Orrville) tied for the most singles wins in a single season, as both finished the season with 15 wins. Daniel Fulton (Milford, DE/Milford) set the record for most doubles wins in a single season with 15 wins.
In No. 2 doubles, Colaianni and Fulton salvaged a win for the Lions after defeating their opponents 6-1. The win would be their 14th together.
The Lions fought back in singles, getting wins in the majority of the matches. In No. 2 singles, Colaianni defeated her opponent 6-2, 6-4 for her 15th win this season. Fulton won the No. 4 spot with a pair of 6-1 scores for their 13th win. In the No. 5 match, Mara Del Valle (Colombia/Walt Whitman) got her third victory of the season after defeating her opponent 6-2, 6-0. In the No. 6 match, Alejandra Segura triumphed 6-6 (7-4), 0-6, 10-7 for her third win.
Penn State Altoona women's tennis finishes its 2025-26 season with a 17-4 overall record. Last fall, the Lions went 4-1 within the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, placing second in the league's regular season standings.
