Four Women’s Volleyball Student-Athletes Receive CSC Academic Honors

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The College Sports Communicators released its NCAA Division III Academic All-District women's volleyball team on Tuesday, and it included four student-athletes from the Penn State Altoona squad.

To be eligible for a spot on the Academic All-District team, student-athletes must meet certain academic and athletic requirements. Academically, student-athletes must be at least sophomores while holding cumulative grade-point averages of 3.5 or higher. Athletically, players must be starters or key reserves who have played in at least 90 percent of their team's matches or started 66 percent of the matches. Nominators could submit up to four qualified student-athletes per team.

The four Penn State Altoona women's volleyball student-athletes named to the CSC's NCAA Division III Academic All-District team are:

-sophomore opposite hitter Maggie Brewer (NuMine, PA/West Shamokin); majoring in Nursing

-junior setter Julia Emel (Woodward, PA/Penns Valley); majoring in Human Development and Family Studies

-sophomore outside hitter/libero Ella Hadley (Spring Mills, PA/Penns Valley); majoring in Nursing

-junior outside hitter Lia Simanski (Altoona, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle); majoring in Business
