Bob Kasun is the head coach of Penn State Altoona's volleyball programs, since his announcement to the position on December 8, 2023.

In his first season, 2024, Kasun guided Penn State Altoona to an 18-12 record and Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference regular season (tied for first place with Alfred State) and tournament championships.

The 2024 AMCC Championship was the second title in as many years. In 2023, Penn State Altoona won the AMCC regular season and tournament championship with AMCC Coach of the Year, Jamie McGreal, coaching the team as interim head coach.

Penn State Altoona advanced to the NCAA Division III National championship for the second straight year and was eliminated in the first round by national champions, Juniata College.

The 2024 Penn State Altoona team featured five players named to the AMCC all-conference team. Anna Batrus was named to the first team, Makenna Port and Lia Simanski to the second team, and Taylor Myers and Ella Hadley made the third team.

Four players (Batrus, Port, Myers, and Simanski) were named the CSC Division III Academic All-District team. Abigail Brinker was named the AMCC all-sportsmanship team.

Prior to his time at Penn State Altoona, Kasun experienced success coaching in high school, building the Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic girls’ and boys’ volleyball programs into state-ranked programs.

Kasun and Ken Streilein co-founded the Horseshoe Volleyball Club, which created playing opportunities in local, state, and national competitions for hundreds of volleyball players in central Pennsylvania. He also served as the Western Pa. AAU volleyball director for four years.

Kasun has also served as the Penn State Altoona men’s volleyball coach since the 2023 season.

Kasun credits his fellow coaches Jamie McGreal and Dave Eckberg for creating a strong coaching team.
