Bio

Dave Eckberg has been an assistant coach with the Penn State Altoona women's volleyball program since fall 2024.

Prior to coaching with the Lions, Eckberg helped start the Tyrone Area High School girls’ volleyball program in 2001 and led the team to its first district playoff appearance in 2004. He then joined the staff at Philipsburg-Osceola Area High School as an assistant coach, where the Lady Mounties made consecutive appearances in the PIAA State tournament in 2008 and 2009.

After becoming head coach of the Philipsburg-Osceola program in 2010, Eckberg went on to compile an overall record of 219-48, winning six league championships, five District championships, and making the PIAA Final Four four consecutive years, including state runner-up in 2020 and a state championship and undefeated season in 2023. 

During his time at Philipsburg-Osceola, Eckberg was named "Progressland Coach of the Year" five times. He has also coached club volleyball for over 20 years with Phanatics Volleyball Club, Sparks Volleyball Club, Slam VBC, and Horseshoe VBC.
