Women's Wrestling Falls to Mountain Cats
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - The Penn State Altoona women's wrestling team traveled to face Pitt Johnstown in their final dual meet of the season, where they lost to the Mountain Cats 22-10.
Naomi Nachmias (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) and Clarissa Long started the dual meet with forfeit victories to give the Lions a 10-0 lead. The Lions then forfeited in the 117-weight class to make the score 10-5.
In the 124-class, Richele Reyes (Buckingham, UK/Alconbury) lost by decision 12-5 to Pitt Johnstown's Rome Alvarez to cut Penn State Altoona's lead to two points.
Gianna Slusser (Raleigh, NC/Garner Magnet) lost via medical forfeit to Isabella Taranto in the 131-class for the Mountain Cats to take the lead, 13-10.
The Lions lost via forfeit in the 138-class to increase Pitt Johnstown's lead to eight points.
Aliana Romero (Bridgeport, CT/Warren) lost via technical fall 10-0 at 1:27 to Emma Hoppe to round out the dual meet with a final score of 22-10 in favor of the Mountain Cats.
Up next, Penn State Altoona women's wrestling will compete in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Women's Wrestling Championships this Saturday, February 7. The championships are scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m.
