Women’s Cross Country Competes at CMU Invite
CLINTON, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona women's cross country team competed in the Carnegie Mellon Invitational on Saturday morning, running a 5K race at Youthtowne.
Penn State Altoona did not post a team score in the event. A trio of Division II teams finished atop the team leaderboard, with Edinboro University winning the race with a score of 54, Ashland University coming in second place with 86, and Slippery Rock University taking third with 92.
Victoria Scutti (Bellefonte, PA/State College) was the Lions' top finisher in the 5K, finishing in 18:56.3 to come in 52nd place out of 183 individual runners. Kayla Crowe (Rockland County, NY/Clarkstown South) placed 160th after clocking in at 21:48.4.
Sharon Lin (Manhattan, NY/Beaver Dam) finished in 174th place with a time of 23:01.0, and Veronica Benvenuto (North Salem, NY/North Salem) rounded out the squad with a time of 30:54.9 to take 182nd place.
Penn State Altoona women's cross country returns to action next Saturday, October 18, when the Lions travel east to compete in Gettysburg College's Aubrey Shenk Invitational. Start time for the race is scheduled for 11 a.m.
