Women's Cross Country Places 25th in Mideast Regional Championships

NEWVILLE, Pa. - The Penn State Altoona women's cross country team placed 25th out of 28 scoring teams in the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Championships on Saturday afternoon. 

Penn State Altoona finished with a team score of 751 to take 25th place in the 6K race, finishing ahead of 26th placed Kings College (Pa.) who had a score of 753. 

John Hopkins finished in first place with 42 points, Carnegie Mellon finished in second place with 64 points, and Lebanon Valley rounded out the top three with 160 points. 

Victoria Scutti (Bellefonte, PA/State College) had the fastest time for the Lions, recording a time of 24:26.86 to finish in 75th place.  

Kayla Crowe (Rockland County, NY/Clarkstown South) finished in 172nd place with a time of 28:20.79.  

Sharon Lin (Manhattan, NY/Beaver Dam), Jordan Franks (Moshannon, PA/Bald Eagle), and Samantha Robinson (Hasbrouck Heights, NJ/Hasbrouck Heights) finished within seconds of each other, clocking times of 30:06.55, 30:08.49, and 30:19.44 respectively. Lin finished in 187th place, Franks in 188th place, and Robinson in 192nd place. 

Veronica Benvenuto (North Salem, NY/North Salem) clocked a time of 36:15.48 and Hailey Burchfield (Everett, PA/Everett) recorded a time of 37:02.10.
