Men’s Soccer Takes Eighth in AMCC Preseason Poll
LATROBE, Pa. – Penn State Altoona men's soccer was predicted to finish in eighth place among all Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference teams this fall, as the league released its 2025 Preseason Coaches' Poll on Monday morning.
Defending conference champion Penn State Behrend was voted first by AMCC coaches, while Mount Aloysius College and Alfred State College rounded out the top three spots in the poll.
Penn State Altoona men's soccer placed eighth in the AMCC last season, when the Lions posted a 2-6 conference record and a 3-10 overall mark. The 2025 edition of the team will feature a balanced mix of returning players and newcomers, including head coach Evan Cardoza, who is entering his first season as the program's interim coach.
Named as "Players to Watch" in the preseason poll were sophomore midfielder Matias Harte (State College, PA/State College) and senior midfielder Aaron Lamy-Ramsden (Trinidad and Tobago/St. Benedict's College).
Harte started all 13 games for the Lions as a freshman last fall, leading the team in points (5) by scoring two goals and recording one assist. He was 19th in the conference in shots attempted (25) and 30th in shots on goal (10) while collecting one AMCC Offensive Player of the Week award.
Lamy-Ramsden appeared in all 13 games for Penn State Altoona last season, making 11 starts in his first year in a Lions uniform. He scored one goal and added one assist, tying for third on the team in points (3).
Penn State Altoona men's soccer starts its 2025 regular season at home on Friday, August 29, hosting McDaniel College for a 4 p.m. contest.
