Men's Soccer Suffers Tough Loss to Mounties

ALTOONA, Pa. - After a month of road games, the Penn State Altoona men's soccer team returned to Spring Run Stadium to face Mount Aloysius. It would be a rough game for the Lions as they would lose 6-1. 

The first 30 minutes would see Mount Aloysius (8-4, 2-1 AMCC) score four goals. The Mounties scored their first goal in the 12th minute through a Joel Martinez ball to Gonzalo Terricabris. Seven minutes later, the Mounties would score again off a defensive mistake from Penn State Altoona (1-9, 0-3 AMCC) to make it 2-0. Pelayo Martin would put a ball through for Levi Byrne, who would put the ball in the back of the net. In the 27th minute, Hugo Olausson Ljungmark scored the Mounties' fourth goal of the night.  

After another goal by Mount Aloysius, the score would be 5-0 at halftime. 

In the 66th minute, Felipe Velarde (Panama / Colegio Real de Panama) would score a goal off a defensive error by the Mount defense to pull one back for the Lions.  

Tanner Polcyn would score a final goal for the Mounties in the 82nd minute to make the score 6-1.  

Alejandro Monjarretz (Managua, Nicaragua / St. Augustine Preparatory School) and Tyler Tardiff (Chadds Ford, PA / Garnet Valley) would split time in goal for the Lions, with each playing 45 minutes. In his time in goal Monjarretz would face six shots and would make one save. Tardiff would face four shots and would make three saves.  

Penn State Altoona men's soccer remains at home for their next game, where they will face Pitt Bradford. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
