Yaletsko Goal Gives Lions Win Against Gators
BALTIMORE, Md. - The Penn State Altoona women's soccer team travelled to face the University of Notre Dame (Maryland) today, winning 1-0.
The Lions (3-3-2) would be on the front foot offensively in the first half, shooting five times and forcing one save from the Gators (1-5).
There would be more parity in the second half as Penn State Altoona would only have a 10-8 advantage in shot attempts. Penn State Altoona would make their scoring attempts pay off in the 63rd minute, as a Jordan Yaletsko (Philadelphia, PA / Philadelphia Academy Charter) shot would chip the goalkeeper before hitting the underside of the crossbar and settling into the back of the net. Although there were more shots, Yaletsko's goal would be the only goal of the game to give the Lions a 1-0 victory.
Ivory MoDavis (Bethlehem, PA / Southern Lehigh), Kira Trexler (Martinsburg, PA/Central), Taylor Frederick (Mifflinburg, PA / Mifflinburg), Rachel Rutkowski (Canonsburg, PA / Canon-McMillan), and Yaletsko would all record shots on goal. Junior goalkeeper Mya Torres (Culpeper, VA/Culpeper County) would get the start and make four saves in ninety minutes.
In their next game, the Penn State Altoona women's soccer team travels to Erie on Saturday, September 27, to play Penn State Behrend in their first Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference game of the season. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
