Women’s Cross Country Places Fourth at Behrend Invitational

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona women's cross country team placed fourth out of five teams on Friday evening, when the Lions competed in Penn State Behrend's Twilight Meet 6k race.

Penn State Altoona finished with a team score of 115 to take fourth place, ranking ahead of fellow Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference squad La Roche University and its total of 129 points.

Host Behrend won its invitational with 25 points, while Division II Mansfield University was second with 44 and Westminster College placed third with 56.

Kayla Crowe (Rockland County, NY/Clarkstown South) was the Lions' top finisher in the 6K, placing 17th out of 31 runners with a time of 28:51. Sharon Lin (Manhattan, NY/Beaver Dam) clocked in shortly thereafter, recording a time of 29:08 to take 19th place individually.

Samantha Robinson placed 25th with 32:41, Jordan Franks was 26th with 32:53, and Veronica Benvenuto came in 28th with a time of 42:18 to round out the Lions' squad.

Next up, the Penn State Altoona women's cross country team will compete in Dickinson College's Long-Short Invitational on Saturday, September 27, at Big Spring High School in Newville, Pa. The start time for the women's race is scheduled for 11:15 a.m.
