Nau Picked as AMCC Pitcher of the Week

LATROBE, Pa. - For the third time this season, Penn State Altoona softball's junior right-hander Josselyn Nau (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte) was selected the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's Pitcher of the Week, as the league office announced its weekly awards on Monday afternoon.

In her two starts last week against non-conference opponent McDaniel and AMCC foe Hilbert, Nau went 1-1 with two complete games.

In Penn State Altoona's close 7-5 loss to McDaniel last Wednesday, Nau pitched all seven innings and surrendered four earned runs and no walks while striking out one batter. She followed that up by going all five innings in the Lions' 9-0 win over Hilbert on Sunday, yielding two hits with no earned runs and no walks. The junior also struck out two batters.

On the week, Nau totaled 11 innings, struck out three batters, and compiled a 2.55 earned run average. In the conference, she currently ranks third in earned run average (3.19), first in wins (five), and second in strikeouts (31).

Penn State Altoona softball is 12-10 overall this season, including a 2-0 conference record. The Lions are scheduled to return to action tomorrow, Tuesday, March 31, when the team hosts a doubleheader against AMCC opponent Pitt Greensburg starting at 3 p.m.
